Graduate Diploma of Christian Ministry and Theology Vision International College Senior Ministry

The Graduate Diploma of Christian Ministry and Theology is designed for men and women in senior ministry roles and builds on their skills developed from the Graduate Certificate.   Issues are studied in greater depth bringing fascinating insights into the learning processes.

The units suit students of Vision International College continuing from the Graduate Certificate of Christian Ministry and Theology or who enter into the course with advanced standing.  The Graduate Diploma further develops skills gained from the Graduate Certificate, enhancing the students’ faith and understanding of God’s word. This course will equip pastors towards a more fruitful ministry.

The units are studied at greater depth and detail than in the Graduate Certificate.  The course can be completed in one year as a Distance Education study program; the time frame is a guide only depending on the student’s capacity and the circumstances for study.

The Graduate Certificate of Christian Ministry and Theology is designed for men and women in senior ministry roles and builds on their skills developed from the Advanced Diploma. Issues are studied in greater depth bringing fascinating insights into the learning processes.

Prerequisite:

Enrollees must hold an Advanced Diploma of Christian Ministry and Theology or equivalent in a similar field of study or a Bachelor of Theology.  The Graduate Diploma of Christian Ministry and Theology is a prerequisite for those who wish to enter the Masters of Theology with Vision International University USA, Texas University of Theology USA, or another university.

This level of study is best suited to:

Generally speaking, this award is designed to meet the ongoing educational needs of those in ministry who function at a senior pastoral level or aspire to do so. It will meet the needs of people who

  • To qualify individuals for autonomous and senior leadership in church groups and other ministry contexts by the values, procedures and practise guidelines of those church groups and Christian ministry contexts
  • or to provide a pathway to higher levels of qualifications
  • Are involved in ministry at a pastoral level;
  • Desire to enter formal ministerial or Christian work;
  • Need to meet denominational qualifications and study requirements;
  • Wish to continue into deeper levels of study to serve Christ and the church better;
  • Are seeking personal growth and development in Christ;
  • intend to enrol into a higher degree level.

The Graduate Diploma Subjects

Graduate Diploma of Christian Ministry and Theology Vision CollegesUpon completion of this qualification, learners should have acquired the necessary knowledge, attitudes and skills to serve effectively and pastors, missionaries in churches, parishes, para-church organisations, missionary organisations, and in religious education.

The student will purchase study books to complete the course from various options with other universities.

The elective subjects are appropriate for someone involved in ministry with some responsibility while subject to pastoral oversight, such as a youth leader; women or men’s ministry leader; other ministry department leader;

The student will complete the following units:

  • 3 Units of Biblical Theology, identified as “CMT” units.
  • 2 Elective Ministry Skills units.

VIC has nominated subjects to satisfy the units.  Students may request alternative topics provided they fulfil the unit elements. The decision of the Principal on the substitution request is final.

There are two options to complete the elective units

  1. Online
    1. Through our “Online Training Portal”, The student has access to a comprehensive and interactive learning and training experience.   The Assignments teach and determine competency in the units.
    2. Access with detailed instructions is provided to students as they enter each unit.  Go to the Student User Guide to preview the Vision International Colleges Training Portal.

    Offline

    1. If a student cannot access the internet or is uncomfortable with online learning, the same unit is available by mail in hard copy as a workbook with written assignments.

The student must complete a minimum of two elective units with a minimum of  120 nominal hours.

Students may request alternative options for the elective units. See section Elective Skills Units VIC. The decision of the Principal on a choice will be final.

Award Recognition

Upon completing this award, learners should have acquired the necessary knowledge, attitudes, and skills to serve effectively as a Senior Minister or CEO, manager of churches, parishes, para-church organisations, missionary organisations, and religious education. Students will apply biblical principles to their daily life and learn how to explain and share those principles with others.

This level of study is best suited to

  • To qualify individuals for autonomous leadership in church groups and other ministry contexts
  • to develop the ministry values, procedures and practise of their church groups and Christian ministry contexts
  • or to provide a pathway to higher levels of qualifications
  • qualify individuals for autonomous and senior leadership in church groups
