Promote the Ministry

Promote the Ministry utilizes CHCPRP004 Promote and Represent the Service.

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to promote and represent an organization to the community, including developing responses to negative publicity and perception. The unit applies to work in all industry sectors, and to individuals who work with significant autonomy, most likely in management roles.

The church, like any business, needs to be promoted within the community to grow and develop as it should.  Jesus has implied strongly the demand for and expectation of growth for he will build his church and he has ordained (commanded) us to be fruitful and multiply in our ministry.

Although this is a secular unit it is contextualized to meet the promotional needs of the church in these current times.

Promote the Ministry Introduction

Promote the Ministry utilizes "CHCPRP004 Promote and Represent the Service."

Promote and Represent the Service Evidence and Knowledge

This unit is usually completed through our online training portal.  It can also be completed through the development of a comprehensive skills portfolio.

To complete this course, Promote the Ministry, we utilize and contextualize the unit “CHCPRP004 Promote and Represent the Service.”  Whether in ministry or secular employment success is going to demand the ability to promote the service you are engaged in.

Performance Evidence

The candidate must show evidence of the ability to complete tasks outlined in elements and performance criteria of this unit, manage tasks and manage contingencies in the context of the job role. There must be evidence that the candidate has:

  • represented at least 1 community sector organization and its philosophies, purpose, and policies to the community through a range of methods, including at least 1 of each of the following:
    • written materials, publications, or fact sheets
    • forums, workshops, or presentations
  • developed strategies to address at least 2 examples of negative publicity or perception

Knowledge Evidence

The candidate must be able to demonstrate essential knowledge required to effectively do the task outlined in elements and performance criteria of this unit, manage the task and manage contingencies in the context of the work role. This includes knowledge of:

  • legal and ethical considerations for service promotion and representation, including:
    • copyright and intellectual property
    • privacy, confidentiality, and disclosure
  • promotion and representation:
    • similarities and differences
    • when and how each is used
    • key stakeholders involved
  • professional networks in the area of work
  • industry structure and interrelationships between different organizations, both public and private
  • current issues, concerns, and debates relevant to the area of work
  • key aspects of planning for community promotion and engagement:
    • setting objectives
    • profiling the community/stakeholders
    • identifying potential partnerships
    • developing consultation and communication strategies:
      • styles and types of communication and their suitability for different situations
      • different types of media
      • different levels of community involvement
  • strategies for representation of the service
  • techniques and considerations for developing written information resources
  • fundamental principles of public relations and issues management

Assessment Conditions

Skills must have been demonstrated in the workplace or in a simulated environment that reflects workplace conditions. The following conditions must be met for this unit:

  • use of suitable facilities, equipment, and resources, including organization information as a basis for activities
  • modeling of industry operating conditions, including the presence of situations that allow interactions with individuals and organizations

Research and Ministry Development Required Skills and Knowledge

This section describes the skills and knowledge required for this unit.

Performance Evidence

The candidate must demonstrate the ability to complete the tasks outlined in the elements, performance criteria and foundation skills of this unit, including evidence of the ability to:

  • plan, conduct and report on applied research relevant to organisational strategic practices and outcomes on at least one occasion.

In the course of the above, the candidate must:

  • formulate a research proposal or plan which includes:
  • specific research questions or hypotheses
  • valid population or sample size
  • description of the geographical, cultural, social or institutional context within which the research will be carried out
  • full description of the data collection methods
  • analysis of the limitations to research design including the reliability and validity of data
  • document and present research findings including analysis of data, valid and reliable findings and recommendations for further research.

Knowledge Evidence

The candidate must be able to demonstrate knowledge to complete the tasks outlined in the elements, performance criteria and foundation skills of this unit, including knowledge of:

  • organisational communication processes and methods
  • data collection and analysis methods, including the use of technology and technology services
  • legal requirements, policies, procedures and guidelines relating to research
  • common presentation techniques and reporting methods
  • applied research tools and methods and how they are applied
  • organisational policies and procedures are relevant to performance evidence.

Promoting the Ministry Training and Learning Options

Students complete the subject, Promoting the Ministry, through our “Online Training Portal” while evidence of practical experience will be applied in the context of the local church.

The portal provides the student with an interactive and comprehensive learning and training section.  Various assignments are presented which are designed to teach and develop and determine competency in the units. Detailed instructions and access are provided to students by VIC as they enter the unit.
