This course, Plan and Conduct Group Activities, utilizes and Christianises “CHCGRP002 – Plan and Conduct Group Activities” to develop the skills required to plan significant events taking the issues below into account in your planning.

Churches consist of unique groups of people, seniors and youth, men or women and a plethora of other options.  To survive and grow, appropriate activities are required, and there is a need for planning.  Good group activities do not just happen.

This course, Plan and Conduct Group Activities will develop the skills you will require to plan significant events taking the issues below into account in your planning.   Satisfies CHCGRP002 - Plan and Conduct Group Activities  Listed below are the skills you will develop in this course:

Plan and Conduct Group Activities Required Knowledge

This describes the essential skills and knowledge and their level required Plan And Conduct Group Activities

Essential knowledge:

The candidate must be able to demonstrate the essential knowledge required to effectively do the task outlined in the elements and performance criteria of this unit, manage the task and manage contingencies in the context of the identified work role 

There must be evidence that the candidate has:

  • planned and conducted at least 3 different group activities for groups with diverse participant profiles, including:
  • identified the following resource requirements:
    • financial
    • human
    • physical
    • worked collaboratively with groups to plan activities
  • facilitated at least 3 different group sessions, each with a minimum group size of 5 people, using the following communication and interpersonal skills:
    • listening
    • questioning
    • effective non-verbal communication
    • empathetic responding
    • paraphrasing
    • summarising
    • negotiation
    • techniques for maintaining group cohesion
    • conflict resolution.

Plan and Conduct Group Activities Essential Skills:

Plan And Conduct Group Activities demands certain skills,  it is critical that the candidate demonstrate the ability to:

  • Support group activities for formal and informal groups
  • Participate in a variety of the group activity types identified in the Range Statement
  • Provide support for an appropriate target group, defined by factors as listed in the Range Statement

In addition, the candidate must be able to effectively do the task outlined in the elements and performance criteria of this unit, manage the task and manage contingencies in the context of the identified work role

These include the ability to:

  • Demonstrate application of skills in:
    • conflict management
    • developing and maintaining positive relationships
    • effective group management

Skills must have been demonstrated in the workplace or in a simulated environment that reflects workplace conditions. The following conditions must be met for this unit:

  • use of suitable facilities, equipment and resources, including:
    • information about group needs
    • organisation policies and procedures
  • modelling of industry operating conditions, including:
    • scenarios that involve groups comprising at least 5 people.

Plan and Conduct Group Activities Assessment Conditions

This unit Plan and Conduct Group activities utilizes and Christianises the Community Services unit “CHCGRP002 - Plan and Conduct Group Activities:”  It is undertaken through our “Online Training Portal” while evidence of practical experience will be applied in the context of the local church

The portal provides the student with an interactive and comprehensive learning and training section.  Various assignments are presented which are designed to teach and develop and determine competency in the units. Detailed instructions and access are provided to students by VIC as they enter the unit.
