Develop a Ministry

The church is a community organisation. We were the original, such organisation, and while others have grown to mimic us, to fill the gap that we missed to compete with us, we are and will always be a community-based organisation. Our capacity is to be the best.

We are at the grassroots of society, and our organisations have to relate to the same laws, legislation, and principles as any other community-based organisation.  The subject “Develop a Ministry”  will help to address those issues and, in the process, be a better church. We use CHCCDE002 Develop and Implement Community Programs to satisfy this subject.

Develop a Ministry Introduction

Develop a Ministry Application

This course is about starting a new area of ministry; it can be a significant new church outreach or even a new church.  The church is a community organisation, we were really the original, and while others have grown to mimic us, to fill the gap that we missed, to be in competition with us, yet at the end, we are and will always be a community-based organisation, we are at the grassroots of society, and our organisations have to relate to the same laws, the same legislation, the same principles as any other.  This subject will help to address those issues and, in the process, be a better church.  To Develop a Ministry, we utilise the subject CHCCD606C - Establish and Develop Community Organisation.

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to develop church programs to ensure maximum participation.  This unit applies to Pastors, leaders and workers in Church ministry, and workers in both health and community sectors and/or a community development work context. Workers at this level will be part of a professional team and have the responsibility to supervise others.

  • Takes responsibility for determining applicable organizational policies and procedures and considering legal and ethical obligations
  • Monitors adherence to legal and regulatory rights and responsibilities for self and others

Planning and organising

Develops plans for complex activities, regularly reviewing priorities and performance during implementation, identifying and addressing issues as they arise

Performance Evidence

The candidate must show evidence of the ability to complete tasks outlined in elements and performance criteria of this unit, manage tasks and manage contingencies in the context of the job role. There must be demonstrated evidence that the candidate has,  developed, implemented and evaluated at least 1 community program

Knowledge Evidence

The candidate must be able to demonstrate essential knowledge required to effectively complete tasks outlined in elements and performance criteria of this unit, manage the task and manage contingencies in the context of the work role. This includes knowledge of:

  • relevant legislation and public policies
  • social, community and youth issues
  • contemporary economics and politics and their impact on community development
  • traditional community development approaches:
    • needs-based
    • gap-based
  • principles and practices of contemporary community development approaches and techniques for mobilisation in relation to:
    • asset-based (ABCD)
    • rights-based
  • social movements
  • sociology fundamentals, including:
    • commonly accepted social theories
    • social inequality
    • sociology of class
    • sociology of gender, including impacts of culture on gender dynamic

Assessment Conditions

Skills must have been demonstrated in the workplace or in a simulated environment that reflects workplace conditions. Where simulation is used, it must reflect real working conditions by modelling industry operating conditions and contingencies, as well as, using suitable facilities, equipment and resources.

Establish a Ministry Essential Skills:

It is critical that the candidate demonstrate the ability to:

1.   Demonstrate effective collaboration with communities and key stakeholders to achieve an agreed outcome
2.   Establish and develop community organisations based on identified community needs, community development methodologies and in accordance with current accepted best practice

In addition, the candidate must be able to effectively do the task outlined in elements and performance criteria of this unit, manage the task and manage contingencies in the context of the identified work role

These include the ability to:
1.   Apply complex communication skills including submission writing
2.   Demonstrate application of skills in:

  •     research and analysis
  •     negotiation
  •     strategic organisation planning
  •     publicity, marketing, public relations and promotion
  •     networking
  •     financial analysis and management
  •     program review and planning

Establish a Ministry Learning and Assessment Options

Students complete the  subject through our “Online Training Portal”.  The portal provides the student with an interactive and comprehensive learning and training section.  Various assignments are presented which are designed to teach and determine competency in the units required.
