Study Requirements Advanced Leadership & Administration

A. Overall Requirements for CE503 Advanced Leadership & Administration

To receive two-semester (or three quarter) hours credit for this course, you must complete the course requirements within a one year period unless your particular institution requires the completion of all the work within the framework of its semester or quarter. During this time, you are expected to devote a minimum of 100 hours to the completion of the course including 1) listening to the 24 recorded lectures, 2) doing the assigned readings mentioned above, 3) answering all questions accompanying the Lesson Outlines in the Lesson Viewer, and 4) completing the project and the research paper.

B. Required Lesson Readings:

You must complete all the required reading assignments in the Lesson Viewer before listening to the lecture.

C. Application/Analysis of Collateral Books:

A two-page analysis of the two collateral books (500-600 words each) should specify ways in which they help your life and ministry. Do not confuse this assignment with a critique, review, or evaluation. The key is to find ways in which these books help you grow as a leader.

D. Additional Reading:

You must complete at least 800 pages of reading outside of the assigned readings and collateral reading. You should then report these indicating the title of the book, author, publisher, date of publication and pages read.

E. Study Questions

Each recorded lecture and reading assignment is accompanied by study questions (see the Lesson Viewer under Lessons) to be answered in writing. Brief one-or-two sentence answers are preferred. These should be completed lesson by lesson as you listen to the lecture. Any resources may be used in compiling your answers.

F. Research Paper

Utilising all the readings and the lectures, analyse your leadership style. Describe strengths and weaknesses and pay special attention to the appendices in Kouzes and Posner and Anthony. This assignment certainly could be completed in 10 15 pages. Still, the number of pages is not the issue; the result should correctly analyse your present leadership style, how and why you chose it, where you see its deficiencies and strengths, and what steps you will take to improve as a leader. This paper should not be undertaken until all readings and lectures have been completed.

G. Long Range Planning Project

Using the following description, design a three year plan to improve leadership in a team ministry. Like the research paper, this project should not be undertaken until all readings and lectures have been completed.
