Credit Points

The Recognised Program with Vision Internet Bible College is built around a credit-point system.

Awards are earned by accumulating credit points instead of completing a set curriculum. This means that any suitably gained credits can be applied anywhere in the system.

There are four award levels, each award is worth 30 credit points.

  • Certificate in Biblical Studies = 30 credits (total credits = 30)
  • Associate in Biblical Studies - plus 30 credits (total credits = 60)
  • Diploma of Ministry - plus 30 credits (total credits = 90)
  • Diploma of Theology - plus 30 credits (total credits = 120)

How do you earn Credit Points?

Typically a student earns credits by successfully completing a subject, three credits, or for additional credits the student can complete and essay or a student study guide for greater depth of study and fast tracking of credits towards their award.

A student begins with the Certificate in Biblical Studies and accumulates credits for each award level.

Subject Credit Points

All of our subjects have the same value and successfully completing a subject earns 3 credit points. Most students earn their award by successfully completing 10 subjects.

Essay Credit Points

One (1) additional credit point per subject may be earned by writing an optional essay. The Essay must be of 1,500 to 2,000 words and follow the guidelines set out for writing an essay by Vision Internet Bible College

The benefits of undertaking an essay is that it will enhance your understanding of the subject thus better equipping the you whilst earning additional credit points.

There is a additional charge for the essay, see Fees and Charges.

Student Study Guide Credit Points

Two (2) additional credit points per subject may be earned by completing an optional Student Study Guide.

The Student Study Guide takes a student through the text book in greater detail. The benefit of completing a Student Study Guide is to enhance your understanding of a subject thus better equipping you.

There is an additional charge for the Student Study Guide, see Fees and Charges.

Advanced Standing

Advanced Standing is given to someone who can show that they have gained knowledge legitimately through various means.  There are two options

  • Prior studies at another college, or(Academic Transfer)
  • From practical experience or other means. Recognised Prior Learning or Life (Ministry) skills.

We, at Vision, recognise this and we do not believe that every student must start at the beginning. We allow for recognition of the learning processes in various ways.

This recognition is offered through Academic Transfers when a student has completed studies at another college, we realise that we are one of many wonderful and worthwhile colleges and we are pleased to recognise formal studies undertaken by a student in another Bible College. We also offer or though Life (Ministry) Skills or Recognised Prior Learning credits if a student has gained ministry experience over the years.

Academic Transfer

If you have completed or are undertaking formal studies and you would like to transfer to Vision Internet Bible College then request the Academic Transfer application form.

There is a cost to assess and transfer the credits from another college to Vision Internet Bible College, see Fees and Charges.

We do not believe that a student should not be forced to start again at the beginning and we are happy to recognise the efforts that students have made in another college.

Note: Due to the variety of standards between institutions we cannot guarantee that all awards will be accepted for the same value however we treat all such requests with equal integrity.

Life (Ministry Skills) Experience

We accept  the value of ministry experience as a valid means of prior learning and contributing towards legitimate credits towards your Award.

It is difficult in this space to present a formula for Life Experience Credits as the mix of experience, expertise and ministry of individuals vary greatly, however in general you are eligible to apply if:

  • If you have been involved in any form of full-time recognised ministry for a period two years. or
  • If you have served the local church in a legitimate office or offices continually for five years; or
  • If or if you can show a combination of both then you are eligible to apply for Life Experience Credits.

You will be required to submit a CV of your experience. Once assessed you will be advised of the number of Life Skills credits that may be offered to you. The Life Experience Credits may then be purchased and applied to any part of your course in lieu of studies, however they can only be applied once and they cannot be claimed with Vision Internet Bible College if they have been claimed in another college see Fees and Charges.

To apply for Life Experience simply request the application form and we will send it to you, complete and return to us for assessment.
