Pre-requisite: None
Certificate III is an alternate entry level option that develops a sound foundation for Christian life and work. It is best suited to new Christians or those who require an introductory level of study.
The program can be completed in one year as a Distance Education study program. The time frame is a guide only and is dependent upon the student's own capacity and circumstances relating to their study.
This program attracts Austudy, Abstudy or Youth Allowance for eligible Australian students.
Upon completion of this qualification learners will have acquired the necessary knowledge, attitudes and skills to serve effectively as workers and religious instructors in churches, parishes, Para-church organisations, missionary organisations, and in religious education. Students will learn to apply biblical principles to their daily life, how to explain and share those principles with others.
The student is required to complete 6 Theology Units and 4 Practical Ministry Skills units as indicated below:
- 6 Units of Biblical Theology, identified as “CM” units.
- 4 Practical Ministry Skills units.
VIC has nominated the subjects for both the “CM” and Practical Ministry Skills units, however students may request a substitute subject if appropriate. The decision of the Principal on the substitution request is final.

PC100: Practical Subjects:
You are required complete the four (4) subjects listed below while involved in a department of your local church or a local community-based program in which your practical skills will be developed. Certificate III is an introductory level to the skills that will be exercised in ministry. You are required to serve under qualified leadership. You will document your work experience based on the requirements outlined in the Practical Skills Development Subjects. Each subject is strengthened with a subject from Vision as listed below. This practical experience must total a minimum of 176 hours.
